The Biden administration has been working through diplomatic channels in recent days, engaging its allies in the Middle East to persuade Tehran to reconsider its decision to attack Israel militarily.
They warned Iran that a massive strike would only increase tensions and could lead to a direct confrontation between the two countries, two senior U.S. officials said. The administration also urged Iran to reconsider its response to the blast that killed the Hamas leader.
