A crime against children in the Kyiv region was solved thanks to international cooperation between law enforcement agencies. The key role was played by interaction with Interpol Israel, after which Ukrainian services were able to promptly identify and detain the suspect.
The information was published by the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office on December 16, 2025.
What happened
The subject of the case was a 30-year-old resident of the village of Kozyn in the Kyiv region. According to the investigation, the man, while at home, accessed and stored materials via the internet containing images of the sexual exploitation of children.
This is not about a random episode, but about systematic access to prohibited content using information and telecommunication technologies.
The role of Interpol and cyber police
The starting point of the investigation was information received from the Israeli Interpol bureau. A signal about the possible distribution of illegal materials was transmitted to the Department of International Police Cooperation of Ukraine.
The data then went to the cyber police, where specialists were able to identify the suspect by IP address. It was the digital trace that allowed linking online activity to a specific address and person.
Search and evidence
During a sanctioned search of the suspect’s home, law enforcement officers seized a mobile phone and a system unit. The devices contained photo and video materials of a pornographic nature, including images of minors.
The seized equipment was sent for examination, which should confirm the volume and nature of the discovered materials.
Procedural status and preventive measure
The man was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He was informed of suspicion under part 1 of Article 301-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — intentional access, acquisition, and storage of child pornography without the purpose of sale or distribution.
The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for 60 days without the right to bail.
What’s next
The pre-trial investigation continues. The sanction of the incriminated article provides for up to six years of imprisonment.
The prosecutor’s office separately emphasizes: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent until proven guilty in a legal manner and confirmed by a court’s guilty verdict.
Why it matters
This case clearly demonstrates how international police cooperation works in reality — even in cases that start in the digital space and cross the borders of one country.
Interpol, the national cyber police, and the prosecutor’s office worked as a single system, where geography does not become a refuge for crimes against children. The development of this and other high-profile cases continues to be monitored by NAnews — News of Israel | Nikk.Agency.
