During a special operation in Southern Lebanon, the Israeli military discovered a training center for Hezbollah militants, just 200 meters from the UNIFIL base. At the same time, in addition to eliminating the militants, weapons were destroyed and terrorist infrastructure was dismantled. During one operation, soldiers found rocket launchers, training materials and maps of Israel.
The training center used tunnel shafts to store weapons and training materials. After discovery, the center was destroyed and the seized weapons were removed. Over time, an IDF bulldozer demolished an observation tower and a peacekeepers' fence in Marwahine, causing disagreement with UNIFIL. Israel accuses the peacekeepers of selective blindness and demands their removal from dangerous areas.
In response to the incidents, Prime Minister Netanyahu called on UN Secretary General Guterres to remove peacekeepers from combat zones. The situation is heating up, and tensions between Israel and the peacekeeping forces are only increasing, threatening the safety of soldiers on all sides.
