Hezbollah said on Thursday that it had attacked the northern Israeli city of Safed in response to Israeli strikes on Lebanon. The National reported that the militants had fired 80 rockets, but did not specify what targets they had attacked. However, they said they had used air defenses and forced two Israeli aircraft to leave Lebanese airspace.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who arrived in New York on Thursday, said the Israeli army would continue to strike Hezbollah until all its goals were achieved. During his flight to the United States, he gave the order to eliminate Hezbollah Air Force Commander Mohammad Hussein Sarour in Beirut. Netanyahu is scheduled to address the 79th session of the UN General Assembly on Friday, where he is likely to discuss the situation in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
