Senior Hamas official Taher al-Nunu confirmed today that the organization has rejected the idea of a temporary end to the war in Gaza, but is ready for a permanent end to the conflict. He stated that “Hamas stands for a permanent ceasefire and an end to the war.”
However, he stressed that Hamas is ready to consider new proposals to resolve the conflict if the mediators offer them and the four main demands of the movement are met, including the withdrawal of troops and the exchange of prisoners.
The Hamas spokesman also said that the Hamas negotiating team is still headed by Khalil Al-Hayya. The Quds Network has revealed offers from Egypt and the United States that include a ceasefire and humanitarian aid in exchange for the release of hostages, but Hamas considers them insufficient to completely end the war.
