Hamas representatives believe that each new killing of their leaders makes the organization “even stronger and more recognized.”
Basem Naim, a senior Hamas member, confirmed the death of leader Yahya Sinwar on Friday, October 18. In a statement, he lamented the loss of “unrivaled leaders.” A little earlier, Naim mentioned Sinvar's name, but soon withdrew this information. He stressed that killing Hamas leaders makes their movement stronger and more recognized.
Naim also expressed the opinion that Israel believes that killing Hamas leaders will lead to the destruction of their movement and the end of the struggle of the Palestinian people. Although the loss of leaders is extremely sad, Hamas believes in its eventual victory. Basem's previous statement was amended to remove mention of Sinwar's name.
According to the IDF, Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was killed in the Gaza Strip. He was considered the organizer and ideologist of the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
