Gulf countries ask US not to attack Iranian oil facilities – Reuters

Gulf countries have called on Washington to prevent an Israeli strike on Iranian oil facilities, Reuters reports, citing three sources in these countries.

According to information, the states that have approached the United States are concerned that their own oil facilities may come under fire from Tehran's satellites if the conflict escalates.

In addition, countries in the region, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar, refuse to allow Israeli aircraft to fly over their airspace for any attack on Iran. State representatives reported this to the United States, three sources close to government circles said.

Israel promised to respond to Tehran after the Iranian shelling of Israeli territory on October 1. The US and other Western countries fear that Israeli actions in response could lead to a wider war in the region.

The agency reports that Tehran itself has asked neighboring countries to use their influence on Washington amid fears of possible Israeli attacks on Iranian oil production facilities.

Earlier, the Financial Times, citing a European diplomat, wrote that the international community had asked Israel not to attack Iranian oil or nuclear enterprises, but there were no guarantees that the Israeli side would comply with the request.

“The fact that the United States is discussing with Israel attacks on Iranian oil facilities as a response to Tehran’s missile attack was confirmed by US President Joe Biden. However, he declined to make any further public comments.”
