Germany sent another IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile launcher to Kyiv

Germany sent another IRIS-T air defense system to Ukraine. This information was confirmed by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at a briefing after the European Council meeting. He said that Ukraine has already received the sixth IRIS-T air defense system as part of military support.

The complex also includes Gepard SPAAG and all ammunition, the production of which has been resumed. Currently, another IRIS-T system is being supplied, but it has not been specified which air defense system we are talking about – SLS or SLM. Both complexes differ from each other in missiles, chassis and interception range of air targets.

Germany has doubled arms exports to Ukraine in 2024 compared to the previous year. At the same time, German arms supplies to Israel decreased. In 2023, the cost of weapons transferred to Ukraine amounted to €4.4 billion, and in 2024, Ukrainians received German weapons worth €8.1 billion.

This became known after a meeting of the European Council, initiated by Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
