Heavy rains have flooded hundreds of tents in refugee camps in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian media reported. Residents report that in addition to the rain, strong winds hit the region, blowing tents straight from their sites. Many people have nowhere to evacuate and are forced to remain outdoors in the rain and cold.
It was especially difficult for refugees in the areas of Deir el-Balah and Mawasi Khan Yunis – even intact tents do not protect against the weather. The UNICEF representative in Gaza highlighted the difficult situation with the arrival of winter, especially for children who lack warm clothing and heating, leading to deterioration in their health.
Earlier it was reported that three babies in the Gaza Strip died from the cold in a few days. Photos from social media showed rain flooding refugees' tents, highlighting the plight of residents in the humanitarian crisis.
