The youth community Prostir invites everyone to a unity and support gathering, which will take place on February 24, 2025, at the Ukrainian Cultural Center (Yirmeyahu St 22, Tel Aviv-Yafo).
This day is significant for everyone who commemorates the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. It is not just a date — it is a time when memory becomes our support, and unity gives us strength.
The meeting will be held in Ukrainian, creating a special atmosphere conducive to open dialogue and support. Psychologist Hanna-Valeria Hryshko will facilitate the meeting, helping participants discuss important issues related to inner experiences, crisis situations, and finding emotional balance.

Prostir: A Cultural and Social Space in Israel
Prostir is the first Ukrainian-speaking Jewish youth community in Israel. It was established in the fall of 2024 with the support of Israeli Friends of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Tel Aviv, following the motto: “Preserving our Ukrainian identity; Discovering our Jewish identity; Shaping our Israeli identity.”
The group’s mission is to form a socially responsible youth community of Ukrainian-speaking Israelis. The target audience is Ukrainian-speaking youth aged 18-40 living in the Gush Dan area.
Currently, nearly 500,000 people of Ukrainian origin live in Israel; more than 15,000 have made emergency aliyah since 2022. Additionally, approximately 14,000 Ukrainian refugees without the right to immigrate are temporarily residing in the country. An interesting fact: today, 540 new immigrants from Ukraine serve as lone soldiers in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Israeli organizations typically use Hebrew, English, and Russian. However, for many Ukrainian immigrants, Hebrew and English are not yet fully mastered, while the Russian language can be a negative trigger.
This is why there is a need for a “home” space, as a safe environment is key to quality integration while preserving one’s identity.
The head of the Prostir project is Olha Brodska. Born and educated in Dnipro, she has lived in Israel since 2016 and served in the IDF. Olha is proud that within the first few months of launching the initiative, she managed to engage over 25 young Israelis of Ukrainian descent.
Prostir is a unique platform created to provide a space for dialogue, cultural exchange, and mutual support.
It hosts commemorative evenings, discussions, educational lectures, workshops, and festivals. Everyone can find something important here: some seek a place to communicate in their native language, others need support during difficult times, while some want to deepen their knowledge of Ukrainian history and culture.
Particular attention is paid to the memory of tragic historical events, such as the Holodomor, the Holocaust, and current wartime events. Prostir helps not only to preserve this memory but also to use it as a foundation for dialogue and reconciliation.
Ukrainian-Jewish Cooperation: Past and Future
The history of Ukrainian-Jewish relations is full of complex moments, but communities like Prostir help build new connections based on mutual understanding and shared values. Prostir’s meetings and projects provide an opportunity to learn more about each other, explore new cultural perspectives, and create bridges between generations.
The community actively works on developing integration programs for the Ukrainian diaspora in Israel, supports educational initiatives, and helps young Ukrainians adapt to life in a new environment while preserving their identity.
