According to the Qatari newspaper Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed, Egypt expressed its dissatisfaction with the map used by Benjamin Netanyahu at a press conference on Monday, where the Philadelphia axis was presented as a military territory, which is contrary to the agreements, and this allowed Netanyahu to blame Egypt for the smuggling of weapons into Gaza.
It is also reported that Netanyahu sent a message to Cairo about his readiness for negotiations on the Philadelphia axis, but Egyptian officials refused and stressed that they are ready to resolve the issue only in the second stage of negotiations and do not intend to discuss the fate of the area at the moment.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry rejected Netanyahu's statements and accused him of trying to distract the Israeli public by delaying the Gaza ceasefire. Egypt also rejected allegations of arms smuggling through the Philadelphi Axis and stressed its efforts to destroy tunnels on the Gaza border.
