Each Israeli family must pay 4,000 shekels annually for the increased defense budget.

The chief economist of the Ministry of Finance presented an analysis of possible options for financing the defense budget. He recommends giving priority to conscripts over reservists, not increasing the budget deficit at the expense of the defense fund, and not tying the budget to GDP.

Abramzon is convinced that increases in defense spending should be financed by cutting other spending or taxes, rather than by increasing the budget deficit. He opposes automatic additions to the defense budget and calls for expanding the conscription of the ultra-Orthodox into the army.

According to the economist's analysis, an increase in defense spending of 10 billion shekels would result in damage to the economy of 1.5 to 3 billion shekels annually. The actual cost of the budget increase will be NIS 13 billion, which will entail additional costs for citizens.
