Cooperation between Russia and Iran could increase their influence in world affairs and threaten US interests.

In an interview with Channel 24, Israeli military analyst David Sharp expressed the opinion that Moscow's possible decision regarding nuclear weapons would lead to dangerous “nuclear arms races” involving other countries around the world. Sharp also stated that the US administration is trying to mitigate the Iranian nuclear threat by satisfying Tehran's requests, which, in his opinion, is the wrong way to go.

The US has chosen a strategy of “appeasing” Iran, but Sharp believes that this is the wrong approach. He also noted that Russia has provided some indirect assistance to Iran in the nuclear weapons field in the past through the construction of nuclear infrastructure, but this process has not yet achieved much.

According to the military observer, Russia does not benefit from providing Iran with nuclear weapons, as this will cause discontent in a number of countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey and even Ukraine. Despite the close cooperation between Iran and Russia, Iran remains a rival of Moscow in some aspects.

According to Bloomberg, in recent months the Kremlin has begun to step up cooperation with Iran due to Iran's nuclear weapons ambitions. Moscow could help Iran in this direction in exchange for Iranian ballistic missiles.
