The economic boycott against Israel continues to escalate, this time affecting the energy sector. The President of Colombia signed a decree banning coal supplies to Israel as part of pressure on the Netanyahu government to end the conflict in Gaza.
May of this year marked the beginning of the breakdown of diplomatic relations between Colombia and Israel due to military actions in Gaza.
While the Colombian coal boycott does not pose much of a threat to Israel's energy sector, the government's plans to phase out coal entirely by 2026 pose new challenges to energy supplies.
