The administration of US President Joe Biden has sent Congress a classified report on its strategy for the war in Ukraine, Reuters reported on September 10, citing three sources.
According to the publication, as part of the bill to allocate $61 billion in funding to Ukraine, Congress asked the Biden administration to submit a detailed strategy for Ukraine by early June.
“A congressional aide said the long-awaited report arrived Monday and lawmakers had not yet had a chance to review it. Two other sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss classified information, confirmed that it had been delivered,” the report said.
The US Congress has approved nearly $175 billion in aid and military support to Ukraine and its allies in the wake of Russia's two-and-a-half-year-long full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Reuters reports.
Biden's support for Ukraine, the article notes, is approved by Democrats and many Republicans in Congress. However, some Republicans criticized the presidential administration for restricting Ukraine's use of American weapons, in particular, for strikes on targets in the Russian Federation.
On April 20 this year, the US House of Representatives approved a national security bill that provides $95 billion in military aid to Ukraine, Israel and other US allies, including Ukraine, totaling about $61 billion.
The vote came after Democrats and Republicans reached agreement on the bills after months of disagreement among some Republicans over continued U.S. support for Ukraine amid Russia's invasion.
