The commander of the IDF Nevatim Air Force Base and his family were placed under tight security after an assassination attempt allegedly organized by Iranian intelligence services. Security is usually provided to higher-ranking officers, but in this case the measure was taken because of the purpose of the cell of Iranian agents. The base commander is a desirable target, since Nevatim is a strategic object.
The airbase, home to intelligence units, was the target of Iranian ballistic missile attacks in April and October. After the second shelling, damage was discovered. Israeli intelligence services exposed “Azerbaijani Israelis” suspected of spying for Iran. They were planning an assassination attempt on the airbase commander.
These spies completed approximately 600 missions, transmitting information about military bases, Iron Dome missile defense batteries and other data. Now it has become known that they were planning to assassinate the commander of the Nevatim base. This message from an opposition TV channel in London was received from an anonymous Israeli security source.
