A new package of military aid will help the Ukrainian military meet its security needs. US President Joe Biden will announce this on Friday, providing Ukraine with an additional $250 million. The message was delivered by Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin at a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense, which was also attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This new package of military aid will help increase the ability to meet Ukraine's evolving needs.

Lloyd Austin is an American military leader and US Army General who became the US Secretary of Defense in early 2021. He is involved in the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov met with Lloyd Austin, where they discussed the supply of new weapons and air defense systems for Ukraine. The Pentagon also announced a new $200 million military aid package.

On April 23, the U.S. Senate voted to allocate a $95.3 billion aid package to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. Ukraine will receive $60.84 billion in the package. U.S. President Joe Biden also signed a bill providing $60 billion in military and economic aid to Ukraine and other U.S. allies. The military aid has already begun to be delivered, including air defense missiles, anti-tank weapons, and other weapons from U.S. stockpiles.

Let us recall that the Pentagon confirmed the start of military aid deliveries to Ukraine. Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder reported that some weapons and ammunition for Ukraine had already been sent.
