Hamas politburo spokesman Osama Hamdan said before the Qatar summit that he did not believe Israel's claims that Mohammed Deif had been killed. He also noted that “the Palestinians cannot trust the Israelis.” Hamdan expressed confidence that Deif was still alive.
Hamdan said the killing of Mohammed Deif was merely “an attempt to dull the Palestinians' consciousness.”
He stressed that the Israelis are incapable of achieving their goals and the Palestinians will not be deceived. The Doha summit is being held in the context of recent violence on the Gaza border.
