On October 7, 2026, Opendatabot, relying on data from the National Bank of Ukraine, reported: from January to August, Ukraine exported IT services worth $4.46 billion. This is 4% more than in the same period in 2025. The share of computer services reached 41% of the country’s total service exports and about 12% of the total export of goods and services. In other words, approximately every eighth dollar that Ukraine receives from exports is now brought in by IT.

For the Israeli reader, there is a specific detail here: Israel remains one of the significant markets for Ukrainian developers. In August, it re-entered the top ten largest destinations for Ukrainian IT exports. However, this relationship does not develop in a straight line: overall Ukrainian IT exports are growing, while sales specifically to Israel in the first half of the year were lower than last year’s.

What is behind $4.46 billion

In statistics, ‘computer services’ do not refer to the supply of laptops or servers. It primarily involves software development and support and other digital services for which foreign customers pay Ukrainian companies and specialists.

Over eight months, the entire Ukrainian export of services amounted to $10.9 billion — 6% more than a year earlier. IT accounted for $4.46 billion. The total export of goods and services reached $35.8 billion and almost did not change over the year; goods contributed $24.9 billion, or about 70%.

This creates an important structure for Ukraine’s economy: goods still form the majority of foreign trade, but IT remains the main source of export revenue within the service sector. Moreover, the industry has returned to approximately the level of the first eight months of 2023, although it is still about 9% short of the peak in 2022.

Israel remains in the first group of markets

In the first half of 2026, Israel purchased Ukrainian computer services worth approximately $122 million. This is about 3.6% of Ukrainian IT exports for that period, but 8.1% less than a year earlier. In July, the Israeli direction brought in another $21 million and was among the top ten markets; according to August statistics, Israel also retained its place in the top 10.

For NAnews — Israel News | Nikk.Agency, this dual picture is important. Israel does not disappear from the structure of Ukrainian technological exports, but it is not participating in the overall growth as quickly as some other markets. We have previously analyzed in detail the dynamics of Ukrainian IT exports to Israel and explained why official statistics do not necessarily show all real connections: part of the contracts of Israeli companies goes through European legal entities, and a Ukrainian specialist after relocation may no longer be counted as an export of services from Ukraine.

To understand the scale, a comparison is sufficient: in the first quarter, Israel was among the top five largest buyers of Ukrainian IT services with $67 million. In May, it was $19 million, in July — $21 million. This is not a market at the level of the USA, which gives Ukraine hundreds of millions of dollars monthly, but for one country, it is still a stable flow of orders worth tens of millions of dollars.

Why this is important right now

A 4% growth looks modest when compared to the Ukrainian IT sector during times of rapid industry expansion. But in 2026, the very fact of growth is important. The sector operates under conditions of war, mobilization, energy strikes, migration of specialists, and caution from foreign customers.

At the same time, IT exports have not just increased in monetary terms. Its share in service exports remains above 40%, and in the country’s total exports — about one-eighth. This makes the sector one of the few areas where Ukraine can receive significant foreign currency revenue without physically transporting goods across borders or sea routes.

The Israeli market is also interesting in this story because the buyer is a country with its own strong high-tech. For the Israeli reader, the term R&D means מחקר ופיתוח — research and development, one of the foundations of the local technological economy. Israeli companies themselves create complex software, cyber, and engineering products and simultaneously attract teams outside the country.

Therefore, maintaining Israel among the largest destinations for Ukrainian IT exports is not a symbolic gesture or political statistics. These are commercial contracts and the work of Ukrainian specialists for a technologically demanding market.

The next question is no longer whether Ukrainian IT can survive the war — its export figures demonstrate this for the fourth consecutive year. The question is different: will the industry be able to return to the level of 2022, and what part of this recovery will be provided by markets like Israel.
