Sometimes war is stopped not by a shot, but by a phrase.
And this time Ukraine chose the word.

On October 6, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated: Kyiv supports Donald Trump’s peace plan and hopes its implementation will begin as soon as possible.

For the first time in a long time, Ukrainian diplomacy speaks not only about its own war — but also about another’s, where the same sirens sound and the same prayers for salvation are heard.

Ukraine emphasized: ending the suffering of civilians, returning hostages, restoring stability — these are not slogans, but the only way for the world not to turn into a chronicle of habitual horror.

“Commentary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel

October 7, 2023, became a tragic date when the horrific Hamas attack against Israel triggered a massive escalation of violence and a protracted humanitarian crisis. Since then, the region has experienced unprecedented losses: thousands of people in Israel and the Gaza Strip have died, others have been forced to leave their homes and have suffered indescribable hardships. Among the innocent victims of this war, unfortunately, are also citizens of Ukraine.

The past two years have left a deep mark on the destinies of the Israeli and Palestinian peoples. At the same time, they have shown that one cannot allow acclimatization to war, terror, or violence. The highest priority should be ending the suffering of peaceful people, returning hostages to their families, and creating conditions for lasting peace and stability.

Ukraine welcomes and supports diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the war in the Gaza Strip, particularly the peace plan of US President Donald Trump, and hopes for its swift implementation.”

Two years later — still painful

October 7 marked two years since Hamas attacked Israel.
Since then, thousands have died, homes have been destroyed, millions of fates altered. Among the victims are Ukrainians who found themselves at the epicenter of the tragedy.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not hide: every new attack echoes in Ukraine. And conversely — every attempt at peace in Israel is perceived as a step needed by Kyiv as well.

“One cannot get used to war,” the ministry emphasized.
This phrase resonates as a common nerve of two countries that have endured sleepless nights under alarms and lost too much to remain silent.

Trump’s plan — an ultimatum that can become hope

Trump gave Hamas 72 hours to accept his plan — 20 points where diplomacy sounds as tough as an artillery order.
He demands the release of hostages, cessation of hostilities, and the start of transitional governance of Gaza with the participation of international partners.

Egypt and Qatar have already supported the initiative.
Hamas’s response has not yet been heard.
But in Kyiv, they hope: perhaps this is the very moment when words outweigh weapons.

Peace as a new front

Experts note that Ukraine’s support for the US peace plan could strengthen its position not only in Washington and Jerusalem but also in the eyes of Europe. While the continent debates supplies, Kyiv demonstrates — diplomacy can be as powerful a weapon as the “Patriot.”

And perhaps this is where a new era begins — where allies speak the same language.
The language of peace, which they protect as their native home.
