The US and Israel are preparing a defense agreement. Strengthening Israeli security and joint military exercises are planned.

Sources of the publication reported that the agreement affects long-term prospects. Some of the ammunition will be delivered from US stockpiles, but the rest will take at least one year to arrive.

The arms sale must be approved by House and Senate committees, the sources said. The list includes AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM missiles for fighter aircraft, 155mm artillery shells, Hellfire AGM-114 missiles for helicopters, small diameter bombs and other ammunition.

State Department officials said the agreement is aimed at strengthening Israel's security by replenishing critical supplies of ammunition and air defense capabilities.

“The President reaffirmed Israel's right to defend its citizens in accordance with international law and humanitarian standards, and to repel aggression from Iran and its supporters. We will continue to provide the necessary support to ensure Israel's security,” the American representative said.

However, the agreement was approved in the context of statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his supporters that Biden had imposed an arms embargo on the country.
