A crashed Israeli army helicopter was found on the Syrian side of Hermon after the Six-Day War.

The remains of the Wasp helicopter were discovered by IDF soldiers on Mount Hermon. The found helicopter made it possible to reconstruct the events of the Yom Kippur War.

The war took place in April 1974, after the signing of an agreement on the disengagement of troops with Syria in May of the same year.

The incident involving the helicopter occurred as a result of artillery shelling, killing 8 paratroopers.

While attempting to evacuate the wounded, the helicopter encountered severe weather conditions and crashed. 6 people died, whose remains were transported to Israel, and the families were informed by the IDF command.
