Israel has not yet expressed official consent to Egypt's proposal, but Western countries continue to work on this project. Egypt has the necessary knowledge and resources to train Palestinian police, while the Palestinian Authority lacks qualified personnel to maintain order.

Recently, PNA head Mahmoud Abbas visited Egypt and discussed the situation in Gaza with the president. He also had a telephone conversation with Donald Trump, the US President-elect.
