The Chairman of the Russian State Duma called for Chubais to be extradited from Israel.

The speaker of the State Duma proposed to extradite Chubais from Israel because of the reform in the electric power industry, which was led by Chubais. Volodin “criticized” him and called for his extradition, which caused applause in the hall. In the spring of 2022, Chubais left for Israel, and in 2023, at a forum, Putin expressed bewilderment (Moshe Izrailevich) about his actions and illegal situation.

Under the leadership of Chubais, a center for Russian studies appeared at Tel Aviv University with an unknown amount of contribution from the ex-official. The new unit will study the future of Russia. Chubais attracted sponsors and found scientists willing to work at the center, including famous journalists.

The University already has a center dedicated to Russian history, while the new one will analyze the country's expected development. The creation of this unit is associated with Chubais’ initiative and his financial support.
