According to the Mercer CFA Institute's annual international pension index, the Netherlands has confirmed its status as the country with the best pension system in the world. Bloomberg reports this. The study of pension systems according to the criteria of adequacy, stability and integrity points to global demographic challenges. The international institute assessed the pension systems of various countries, including Iceland, Denmark and Israel, which also received the highest A rating among the 48 countries assessed.

The report's analysis shows that increasing life expectancy, declining fertility rates, high interest rates and rising health care costs are putting pressure on state pension program budgets. As a result, overall indices have declined this year. The USA took 29th place, the UK – 11th, Japan – 36th. According to the index, India came in last place with a D rating, behind other countries including South Africa, Turkey, the Philippines and Argentina.

Australia, known for its highly valued pension system, dropped to sixth place behind Singapore. China ranked 31st, but the country's recent pension reforms were not included in the index. Mexico, India and France have also made changes to their pension systems. The Pension Fund of Ukraine presented information on the size of pensions of Ukrainians in 2024.

The established figures and statistics show the importance of analyzing and adapting pension systems to global demographic challenges. In addition to the Netherlands, Iceland, Denmark and Israel, which are ranked as the best in the world, other countries are also facing changes to their pension plans.
