On the evening of October 1, Iran fired approximately 180 rockets at Israeli cities in response to the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Israel's defense system successfully repelled an Iranian missile attack, although one person was killed.
The missiles were launched in several waves at approximately 19:30 local time.
Iran claims the attack destroyed several Israeli airfields, but Jerusalem denies this without providing any evidence. Iron Dome was able to intercept most of the missiles, although there were isolated hits within the country.
One person died while near the city of Jericho, and two were slightly injured.
Iran is being blamed for escalating the situation in the Middle East, and the IDF is warning of a possible unprecedented response. Israel is preparing for more strikes, and Iran is threatening American bases in retaliation for US aid to Israel.
