Israeli counterintelligence has arrested a citizen of the country on suspicion of having ties to Iranian intelligence services. According to investigators, the arrested man was hired by Iranian agents to carry out an assassination attempt on a high-ranking politician or head of security forces.
It follows from the published report that the recruited man was a businessman who had lived in Turkey for many years. He was in a difficult economic situation, which is why he agreed to work with the Iranians, to whom he told about his extensive connections with the Israeli criminal world.
The recruit demanded a million dollars from the Iranians to kill a high-ranking Israeli politician, but immediately warned that the prime minister and defense minister were too well guarded. The Iranians offered him to kill former prime minister Naftali Bennett, but for a much smaller sum, and also said that such an assassination would be revenge for the Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and would avoid a war between Israel and Iran.
