The UN Security Council has scheduled a meeting for Wednesday, September 4, 2024, to discuss the hostage situation in the Gaza Strip. The bodies of six people kidnapped and shot in the region were recently discovered. Afterwards, Israel's UN ambassador thanked the US, UK and France for their support and wrote about the need for a formal discussion.
A similar council meeting was held in May, as the previous Israeli envoy noted. However, at the moment, practical steps to resolve the hostage issue seem unfeasible.
Beyond the UN discussions, further action on this issue remains uncertain and requires serious efforts from all interested parties.
