Prime Minister Netanyahu met with the Israeli diplomatic mission for negotiations with Hamas in Cairo. He proposed to discuss security measures in the Netzarim area, through which the corridor from the Israeli border to the sea passes, and where terrorists were eliminated.
The agreement on this issue facilitates the return of Gazans to the north of the enclave.
Israel is demanding security checks for all Palestinians returning to northern Gaza, a move Hamas rejects. Netanyahu has proposed closing off roads leading north to control traffic. Cars would have to undergo checkpoints before continuing north, a move Hamas has previously rejected.
