President Joe Biden has called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reach a ceasefire agreement with Hamas in Gaza as peace talks have stalled. According to UNN, he expressed the need for a ceasefire and hostage release agreement after a phone call with Netanyahu.
He also discussed with the Israeli prime minister the upcoming talks in Cairo and U.S. efforts to support Israel's defense against threats from Iran and its terrorist proxies. Biden stressed the urgency of reaching an agreement.
Biden is known to be pressuring Netanyahu to show flexibility in the negotiations involving the US, Egypt and Qatar. Work on a ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement between Israel and Hamas is still ongoing, Biden told reporters. Former US President Trump also spoke with Netanyahu about the hostages and the ceasefire in Gaza.
