Katyusha rockets attacked an American airbase in Iraq, media reported.

At least five US troops were officially wounded in an attack on a military base in Iraq on Monday, Reuters reported.

Two Katyusha rockets were fired during the attack on al-Asad airbase in western Iraq, Iraqi security sources said. One Iraqi source said the rockets landed on the base, but it was unclear whether the attack was linked to threats from Iran in response to the killings.

Last week, Iran accused the United States of killing Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran because of its support for Israel. US officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said one US soldier was seriously injured. They said the casualty figure was based on initial reports and could change. “Base personnel are currently assessing the damage from the attack,” one official added.
